512 RAYA GATHERING @ Al-Rawsha

Despite of the fact that i was swamped with work on my very first day back at work after long Hari Raya holidays, i still managed  to join 512 Raya Gathering yesterday night. Alhamdulillah syukur :)

Thank you to Faisal aka Cipong (our beloved Class President) and Pokku for initiating this gathering. Unlike previous years which normally we had our class gathering in the month of Ramadhan, this year we had it in the month of Syawal. It doesn't matter to me in which month the gathering was organised as long as there is a gathering :)

Initially we planned to go to Tajine Restaurant @ Jalan Tun Razak i.e. belakang Technip tapi rupa- rupanya dah dirobohkan. Yang ada cuma construction.. hahaha...it was so funny because punyalah beriya-iya plan and vote for dinner @ Tajine but none of us knew about the closure of the restaurant....nasib baik Khairil and Pokku sampai dulu, so that they were able to inform the rest of us about the closure and quickly suggested few other venues.

In the end, we decided to go to Al-Rawsha Restaurant located at Jalan Kg Pandan, KL.  It is open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

It’s like a castle… with ample parking spaces around the compound (free parking).. but during peak hours, it can be a full house
It's a 2 floors restaurant with middle east interior design..very spacious - able to cater for private functions and parties too...surau is available..children playroom is also available :) The ambiance is there....with arabic music playing in the background..

Here are the pictures of some of the food that we have ordered :)  Yumyum

Lamb Mandy

Chicken Mandy

Mandy is the traditional dish of Yemen, native to Hadhramaut and many other Yemeni cities, also known as Haneeth.  Mandy is usually made from basmati ricemeat (lamb or chicken), and a mixture of spices. The meat used is usually a young and small sized lamb to enhance the taste further.  Everything is served together in one plate.

Both chicken and lamb were very tender, simply perfect!

Salsa-like chilli sauce

Yogurt
We also ordered
- Al-Rawsha mixed grill
- Chicken kebab
- Vegetable roll
- Ladies fingers with meat
- Tea pot mint

Visit their website www.alrawshakl.com for more information, menu and price list.

To: Cipong, Marien, Liza, Asraf, Hazwan, Pokku, Mimi, Isma, Khairil and Chelop

We had so much fun yesterday nite. Full of jokes and full of laughter. Lots and lots of catching up - family, career, relationship status etc. At the same time, sempat jugak flashback all the memories we had back in MRSM Taiping..puas gelak bila teringat balik semua cerita-cerita lama..all the funny/silly things that we did together...the scandals/the gossips...the fight with the seniors...homeroom teachers/activities...secret admirer activities...kantoi tersasul (hopefully Meen still have the book)...ya allah seronoknya zaman-zaman sekolah kan..

To: Elai, Meen, Iman, KChik, Syerah, Azza, Fuad, Azri, Erzal, Farhi and Sepu

Wish that all of you were here.  Mesti lagi meriah. For sure gelak lebih lagi..hehehe...Hope to see all of you in the next gathering session or bile-bile free, calling2 and meet up pon boleh je..

I'm so blessed and grateful to have all of you as my friends. We managed to keep our 13 years of friendship until today. Lets hope and pray that this friendship will last forever. Insya-allah.

HARI RAYA PERTAMA :)

Reminder for myself juga.

At the same time, adik bongsu teringin nak makan lontong, jadi buat jugalah kuah lodeh.

So kami pun ambil juga mee udang. Sedap sangat sampai tanya resepi. Fuhhh memang kenyang teramat sangat. Sampai ketat PB kami.

Here are some family photos on the first day of RAYA :) ENJOY!!!!

The Purpose of Ramadhan

The month of Ramadhan is not like any other month; its purpose is to rid man of those habits which he has accumulated throughout the rest of the year. It is a month that prepares man for the remaining eleven months by teaching him discipline and self control. Thus, Allah has made some acts which are beloved to man, like eating, drinking and fulfilling one’s desires, Haraam. If man can control these desires in this month, which are usually permissible for him, then he can surely control himself from other desires which are not permissible throughout the remaining months.

This blessed month has been sent by Allah to His bondsmen so that can create a connection and draw closer to Allah by reaping the many rewards that lie in this month. A person who has been given the opportunity to be present in this month can take this as a sign that Allah Ta’ala has given him another opportunity to draw closer to Him and earn His paradise through worship in this month.
In this month we will be given many opportunities, as mentioned above to reform ourselves and seek forgiveness for our bad sins. This is a month of reformation and self reflection, where a believer can ponder of over spirituality and piety and bring a change for the better. The Prophet of Allah S.A.W has clearly stated:

مَنْ لَمْ يَدَعْ قَوْلَ الزُّورِ وَالْعَمَلَ بِهِ فَلَيْسَ لِلَّهِ حَاجَةٌ فِي أَنْ يَدَعَ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ
“Whoever does not give up lying and evil actions, then Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink” [Saheeh al-Bukhari]

It is clear from this Hadeeth which has been narrated on the authority of Hadrhat Abu Huraira that Allah is not in need of any person to leave his food or drink. Allah is far from needs and desires. However, it is the mercy of Allah that He wants each and every person to leave those things which will lead him to the hellfire and by controlling one’s desires throughout this month it is hoped that one will be able to control himself throughout the following months also.

For those who can relate, we can look at the month of Ramadhan like an MOT test. It is vital to be on form during this test. Once the test is over then we should be at a standard where we can continue through the following months. Indeed, there will be repairs and faults in between, but these will be minor and can be dealt with on the spot.

May Allah Ta’ala make us successful in this test, for the one who is unsuccessful in this test may not be given an opportunity for a re-test.

“Jibreel came to me and said, ‘Whoever reaches the month of Ramadan and does not have his sins forgiven and so enters the Fire, then may Allah distance him, say ameen.” So I said “Ameen” [Mustadrak al-Haakim]
In summary, the month of Ramadhan has been made so that mankind can take benefit of the merits and blessings contained within to change themselves for the better and by doing so create a bond with Allah that will continue throughout the eleven remaining months.

It is a month within which Allah has instructed us to place more emphasis on actions regarding our Deen (religion) as opposed to our daily routine and emphasis on worldly matters.
I pray that this information comes in use and aids the readers in preparing for the month of Ramadhan.
As a reminder, please commit the following Du’a to memory and make a habit of reciting it daily until the day of Ramdhan.

“O Allah, make the months of Rajab and Sha’ban blessed for us, and let us reach the month of Ramadhan.” [Musnad-e-Ahmed]

IFTAR@WONG SOLO, KG BARU

Alhamdulillah semalam Awien dan kawan-kawan office berbuka puasa di Restoran Ayam Bakar Wong Solo Sdn Bhd. No.57, Jalan Raja Alang, Kampung Baru, 50300 Kuala Lumpur. (near Masjid Kg. Baru).  Sebelum ni pernah makan kat Ayam Penyet Ria & Ayam Penyet AP je. First time try Ayam Penyet Wong Solo ni which Awien pun tak pernah tau ada kat Kampung Baru...bila compare balik, Wong Solo TERBAIK!!!

Thanks to my friends, Vee and Nana for the recommendation. Memang sedap dan lazat :) Harga pun berpatutan dan menu banyak pilihan. Tempat pun selesa dan dekat dengan masjid. Easy to park your car jugak sebab ada available carpark nearby (one of it memang next to the restoran, RM3 per entry). Cume jalan sesak sikit semalam sebab ada bazar ramadhan along the road. Bak kata my friend, Cuan, drive through bazaar..hehe..boleh beli from the car je ('',)

Menunye sangat lengkap. Ada waktu operasi and cawangannye sekali. Semalam, we decided to order set number 4 untuk sepuluh orang since there were 10 of us confirm joining the berbuka puasa. Menu untuk set number 4 is as follows:
- Ayam penyet/bakar/goreng - 6 ketul
- Ikan bawal/siakap tiga rasa- 2 keping
- Sotong/Udang goreng tepung - 2 piring
- Tempe/tauhu goreng - 2 piring
- Sayur kangkung - 2 piring
- Sup ekor - 2 mangkuk
- Mineral water - 10 botol
Tapi last minute, 5 of my friends tak jadi join atas sebab2 tertentu. Ya Allah memang banyakla makanan semalam. Tapi sebab dah order and makanan pun dah prepared and dah siap terhidang atas meja, so we all layan kan je lah. Memang best meratah lauk je la semalam. Sampai bersandar semua orang sebab terlalu kenyang. As for me, sampai ketat my premium beautiful corset, sampai rasa senak jugakla..haha..Surprisingly, semua lauk habis except for one of the fish and nasi. So my friend, Didi tapau the fish, sebab tak nak membazir.

Below is some of the pictures of the food. Terliur tak????
Cili kicap and cili pedas..both ada rasa pedas tapi manis :)

Tempe goreng

Ayam penyet - sambal dia mmg pedas and power!!

Ayam bakar - memang you all patut try, mmg sedap la

Ikan siakap 3 rasa and sayur kangkung
Okla you all...that's all for now...

from me

Muka budak yang kekenyangan semalam..hahaha

"Let it not be that the day that you fast and the day that you break fast be equal"

By Ali Al-Timimi
In the month of Ramadan it is very important that we spent a few moments to understand some of the wisdoms and lessons that we can learn from this month of fasting. Unfortunately, many Muslims come in to this month and they are as a companion of the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "Let it not be that the day that you fast and the day that you break fast be equal." Meaning, one's behaviour, attitude and outlook are the same whether one fasts or not, i.e. fasting has no effect upon that person. This is why we need to reflect on some of these lessons.
LESSON 1: Gaining Taqwa (piety)
Allah legislated fasting for gaining Taqwa, "O you who believe, fasting has been prescribed upon you as it has been prescribed upon those before you, so that you may attain Taqwa." (meaning of Soraatul Baqarah (2):183) Taqwa in this case means to make a shield between oneself and Allah's anger and Hellfire. So we should ask ourselves, when we break our fasts, 'Has this fasting day made us fear Allah more? Has it resulted that we want to protect ourselves from the hellfire or not?
LESSON 2: Drawing closer to Allah
This is achieved by reciting and reflecting on the Qur'an during night and day, attending the taraaweeh prayers, remembering Allah, sitting in circles of knowledge and, for those who can, making `umrah. Also for those who can, making I`tikaaf (seclusion) in the last ten nights of Ramadan, so as to leave all worldly pursuits and seclude oneself in a masjid just thinking of Allah, so as to bring oneself closer to Allah . When one sins, one feels distant from Allah. That is why one might find it heard to read the Qur'an and come to the masjid. However, the obedient worshipper feels closer to Allah and wants to worship Allah more, because he is not shy from his sins.
LESSON 3: Acquiring patience and strong will
Allah has mentioned patience more than seventy times in the Qur'an and has commanded patience in more than sixteen ways in His Book. So when one fasts, and gives up one's food and drink, and one's marital sexual relations for those hours, one learns restraint and patience. This Ummah needs man and women that are strong willed, who can stand upon the Sunnah and the Book of Allah and not waver in front of the enemies of Allah. We do not need emotional people, who just raise slogans and shout, but when the time comes to stand upon something firm, they cannot do so, they waver.
LESSON 4: Striving for Ihsaan (righteousness and sincerity) and staying away from riyaa' (showing off)
Ihsaan means to worship Allah as if one seeks Him, and even though one does not see Him, He sees all. Hasan al-Basree said, "By Allah, in the last twenty years, I have not said a word or taken something with my hand or refrained to take something with my hand or stepped forth or stepped back, except that I have thought before I have done any action, 'Does Allah love this action? Is Allah pleased with this action?' So when one is fasting, one should gain this quality of watching oneself and also staying away from riyaa' (showing off). That is why Allah said in a hadeeth qudsee, "Fasting is for Me and I reward it." (al-Bukhaaree) Allah singles out fasting from all other types of worship saying, "Fasting is for Me", because no one knows whether you are fasting or not, except Allah. For example, when one is praying or giving charity or making tawaaf, one can be seen by the people, so one might do the action seeking the praise of the people. Sufyaan ath-Thawree used to spend the nights and the days crying and the people used to ask him, "Why do you cry, is it due to the fear of Allah? He said, 'No.' They said, "Is it due to the fear of the Hellfire?" He said, 'No. It is not the fear of Hellfire that makes me cry, what makes me cry is that I have been worshipping Allah all these years and doing scholarly teaching, and I am not certain that my intentions are purely for Allah."
LESSON 5: Refinement of manners, especially those related to truthfulness and discharging trusts. The Prophet (may Allah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, "Whoever does not abandon falsehood in word and action, then Allah has no need that he should leave his food and drink." (al-Bukhaaree) What we learn from this, is that we must pay attention to the purification of our manners. The Prophet (may Allah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, "was sent to perfect good manners." (Maalik) So we must check ourselves, are we following the behaviour of the Prophet (may Allah send His blessing and peace upon him)? For example: Do we give salaam to those we don't know and those we do know? Do we follow the manners of Islam, by telling the truth and only telling the truth? Are we sincere? Are we merciful to the creation?
LESSON 6: Recognizing that one can change for the better
The Prophet (may Allah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, "Every son of Adam sins and the best of the sinners are those who repent." (Ibn Maajah) Allah provides many opportunities to repent to Him and seek His forgiveness. If one was disobedient they can become obedient.
LESSON 7: Being more charitable
Ibn `Abaas said, "The Prophet (may Allah send His blessing and peace upon him) was the most charitable amongst the people, and he used to be more so in the month of Ramadan when Jibreel used to meet him on every night of Ramadan till the end of the month." (al-Bukhaaree) The Prophet (may Allah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, "He who gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will receive the same reward as him, without nothing being reduced from the fasting person's reward." (at-Tirmidhee)
LESSON 8: Sensing the unity of the Muslims
The Prophet (may Allah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, ".Those of you who will live after me will see many differences. Then you must cling to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided khaleefahs. Hold fast to it and stick to it." (Aboo Daawood) In this month we sense that there is a possibility for unity, because we all fast together, we break fast together, we all worship Allah together, and we pray Salaatul-`Eid together. Therefore we sense that the unity of possible. It is possible for Muslims to be a single body, but this will only be achieved when obedience is only to Allah and His Messenger.
LESSON 9: Learning discipline
The Prophet (ma Allah send His blessing and peace upon him) made us adhere to discipline and strictness, strictness that does not lead to fanaticism or going outside the bounds that Allah has laid down. One cannot knowingly break the fast before the sunset, as this will not be accepted by Allah. Muslims should learn to be very strict in their lives, because they are people of an important message, which they mold their lives around.
LESSON 10: Teaching the young to worship Allah
It was the practice of the people of Madina that during the fast of `Aashooraa (which is now a recommended fast of one day) to get their children to fast with them. When the children would cry of hunger and thirst, their parents would distract their attention by giving them some sort of toy to play with. The children would break their fast with their parents. (as mentioned in al-Bukhaaree). So the young should be brought to the masjid and they should pray with their parents, so that they are able to get into the habit of becoming worshippers of Allah. If one does not encourage children to fast when they are young, they will find it very difficult to fast for thirty days at the age of puberty. This is why the Prophet (may Allah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, "Command your children to pray at the age of seven and beat them at the age of ten (if they do not pray." (Haakim)
LESSON 11: Caring for one's health
Fasting has many medical benefits and it teaches Muslims to take care of their health and too build strong bodies. The Prophet (may Allah send His blessing and peace upon him) said, "A strong believer is better and is more beloved to Allah than a weak believer, and there is good in everyone." (Muslim)
